Golf tours to Scotland

Moore Sports Toursis delighted to add Golf Tours to Scotland to the range of sports tours we offer our clients.

Golf at “The Birthplace of Golf” is rich in history, challenging on the famous links and parkland courses, great fun, and very accessible. Add to that some great pubs and restaurants, quality accommodations and a friendly culture, direct flights from Toronto and other Canadian airports and you have the makings of the perfect golf trip.

Group sizes
A Golf tour can be arranged for as few as four people and groups can choose to have a self drive tour or have their own driver.

Golfers usually move around the country during their tour, playing many of the top courses, so they can enjoy a few different towns and cites and of course, some fabulous resorts, that really are world class.

If you are planning a tour for your college or club’s golf team, talk to us as we can also arrange matches against similar Scottish clubs or colleges and golfers can also be entered in local “open” tournaments when they are in Scotland.

Coaching opportunities also exist for small and larger groups, as there are many well equipped ranges and golf academies throughout Scotland.

Local representation
By having local representation, you can be confident that Moore Sports Tours will provide you with expert knowledge and assistance on both sides of the pond! In Canada, we are your main point of contact, but when you are in Scotland our local representatives will be there to give you the benefit of their local knowledge. You will be met at the airport upon your arrival and you will assisted throughout your entire tour.

Every client receives customized, personal service, where good relationships matter, and you are not just a number.

Which courses to select?
In Scotland there are over 600 golf courses, of which about 80 are worthy of the international traveller.

There are world class championship courses, that have witnessed the world’s best golfers playing in the British Open, Scottish Open, the Dunhill Links, and many other prestigious tournaments.

There is a great range of quality links courses, parkland courses, and resort courses, charging green fees of between $100 and $400 ... and ther are some excellent local courses that are less expensive at less than $100 per player. They have courses that suit every standard of golfer.

Courses you may have heard about that can be included in your itineraries include:

• The Old Course (venue British Open 2010)
• Carnoustie Golf Links (venue British Open 2007)
• Kingsbarns Golf Links (annual venue Dunhill Links)
• PGA Centenary Course, Gleneagles (venue Ryder Cup 2014)
• Nairn Golf Club (venue Curtis Cup 2012)
• Castle Stuart Golf Links (venue Scottish Open 2011)
• Royal Dornoch Golf Club (rated one of the top courses in the world)
• Royal Troon Golf Club (venue British Open 2004)
• Ailsa Course, Turnberry (venue British Open 2009)
• Muirfield (venue British Open 2013)

Golf in Scotland is not inexpensive, but the experience you will enjoy is one you will remember for a lifetime.

There are ways to reduce the cost of the green fees by playing a course twice, playing in the afternoon, or even travelling in the shoulder months of March or October when the courses are open but the daylight hours might be a little less.

Non-golfers
These tours also work for couples where there are some golfers and some non-goflers as there is plenty of lesuire acitivties for the non-golfers to enjoy while the golfers are on the courses.

Transport
We can offer self-drive tours that are good value for groups of up to eight people. Good maps and GPS systems are supplied with each vehicle.

We also provide each vehicle with a local cell phone so that they can easily keep in contact with our local representatives or even call the clubhouse in case you are running late for your tee time!

We can supply a driver with vans, minicoaches and larger vehicles to cater for groups of any size. All vans and coaches have a fridge or cool box on board for these all-important beers after golf! The drivers also are all experienced in managing golf groups and know the best pubs and restaurants to take you to after you have finished your round.

Accommodations

We can offer a variety of accommodation experiences depending on your own preferences and budgets. You can choose three-star, four-star, and five-star hotels, resorts, castles, and even self-catering apartments if you prefer - these are highly recommended by our Scottish staff and previous clients.

Additional activities
In addition to organising golf, arranging hotels, and coordinating transportation, we can also set up other activities for you such as:

• Distillery tours
• Walking and driving tours with professional tour guides
• Special dining experiences
• Boat trips
• Castle visits
• Adventure sports

Anything that you wish to get involved in while you are in Scotland, we can try to organise.
